Optics is used in numerous applications nowadays. In fact, Opto-electronics and metrology are already well-developed fields merging the areas of optics
Hence for a graduate to be able to understand the design concepts for such high end applications, it becomes crucial to understand the basic optics and that is where this course comes into light.
This course will introduce these concepts at a level relevant for an engineer.
What you will Learn ?
1. The course will start by looking at Geometric optics, before moving on to Gaussian optics and then wave optics.
2. The course will also study specific engineering examples with a detailed look at the optics of these.
3. In the first part, an optical design software called Zemax and Tracepro will be used.
4. The ideas and concepts of geometric optics will be developed through a series of exercises Zemax
